Heavy metal! Satanists! Alexandra Daddario! We Summon the Darkness certainly has a whole lot going for it, and today, we’re happy to share the exclusive trailer premiere for Saban Films’ upcoming horror comedy (out April 10). We Summon the Darkness stars Daddario as Alexis, a young woman making her way to a heavy metal concert with two of her friends when they hear reports of a brutal murder linked to a string of satanic killings. But the show must go on, and after the concert the girls invite the band back to Alexis’ family estate, where a night of wild partying quickly turns into devilish and deadly affair.
Alexandra Daddario has played a half-Olympic god, a Baywatch lifeguard and horror film survivor, but none of them have been as eccentric as her role as narcissist pop star Dana Lee in Katharine O’Brien’s Lost Transmissions.
The film, which premiered on March 13, follows Hannah (Juno Temple,) a shy songwriter, whose record producer mentor, Theo (Simon Pegg), lapses on his medication for schizophrenia and becomes a danger to himself and others. As Dana Lee, a silver-haired pop singer who wears thigh-high boots and doesn’t care about Hannah’s life outside of her writing the next top 40 hit, Daddario provides the much-needed humor for such a serious and sensitive film. “My character is the center of her own movie,” she says.
Ahead of Lost Transmissions’ release, Daddario talked to StyleCaster about how Lady Gaga’s confidence inspired Dana Lee, what she learned about mental health from the film and how Percy Jackson changed her life 10 years after the first film premiered.
On how Dana Lee is different than any other character she’s played
It was a chance be someone completely different, which all my roles are to a certain extent, but this one was so much farther than that. It was more of a grounded caricature of somebody. I got to wear acrylic nails and crazy hair and crazy outfits.
My character is the center of her own movie. In her mind, she’s walking in, she wants something from this girl. It doesn’t matter what this girl is going through. The rest of the movie is irrelevant to me.
On how Lady Gaga inspired Dana’s Lee’s confidence
It was a combination of things [that inspired Dana Lee]. I could say Lady Gaga. I’ve worked with Lady Gaga, and Lady Gaga is so empathetic and kind and lovely and supportive. But there are elements of the confidence that she has.

Alexandra Daddario brings special-edition jaguar xj to gorgeous new heights. Jaguar’s cars are known for long, flowing curves and head-turning looks, so it makes perfect sense that the luxury automotive marque would enlist the help of Baywatch actress Alexandra Daddario to celebrate the 2019 XJ Collection Special Edition. Jag partnered with famed fashion photographer Max Montgomery to capture the Maxim Hot 100 beauty alongside this year’s final, limited-production version of the striking performance sedan in an exclusive photo series.
“What better way to honor the timeless and elegant XJ Collection Special Edition than through the lens of Max Montgomery”, said Kim McCullough, Vice President, Marketing, Jaguar Land Rover North America. “Combing those two elements with Alexandra Daddario’s style truly captures the essence of this model.” Each car is one of only 300 and based on the long-wheelbase, rear-wheel drive Jaguar XJL Supercharged. A formidable 470 horsepower comes courtesy of a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 that’s mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Its already-stylish exterior is elevated by a set of intricately designed 20-inch, five split-spoke wheels in a satin gray finish, as well as a shining “Collection” badge on the trunk. Alexandra was photographed by Kurt Iswarienko for New York Post 2019. Here is a short part of her interview to the magazine :
Despite blockbuster roles in the “Percy Jackson” films, “San Andreas,” “Baywatch” and “True Detective,” Daddario, 33, still remains startled by her growing celebrity.
“It can be so jarring,” says the LA-based actress. “After ‘Baywatch’ there were dumb paparazzi photos of me in slippers and a pair of oversize pants and I was like, ‘I can’t dress like this anymore.’ So I have been getting into fashion a little more.”
She shows off that new sartorial side in her latest project, the dark comedy “Why Women Kill” for CBS All Access, which focuses on the parallel lives of three women (in the 1960s, 1980s and today), all dealing with infidelity. Daddario plays Jade, a bisexual mistress in a tumultuous polyamorous relationship that ends in dramatic bloodshed. “I’ve had a great time working on it,” she says of the show, created by Marc Cherry of “Desperate Housewives” fame.
“I got to do some stabbing, which was fun. I love doing that kind of stuff. The show has three different time periods with three different stories so you can kind of go in and get something different out of each one because they all have different messages.” Read the rest of the interview here.
